Einar Aggerholm vs Gustav Eder

Den 11. januar 1935 fik det københavnske boksepublikum endnu en unik mulighed for at se endnu et forsøg på at få en EM-titel i professionel boksning på danske hænder.

Situationer fra de to knockdowns i 2. omgang af kampen. Nederst er kamplederen nået til”8″ i sin tælling.

Einar Aggerholm var blevet ført effektivt frem af Vognmanden Charles Hansen inden Valdemar Christiansen overtog. Efter 31 kampe med blot 2 nederlag, var han på papiret klar til den store udfordring.

Tyske Gustav Eder havde vundet weltervægtstitlen i 1934, og havde forsvaret den 2 gange inden han kom til København.

I ugen op til kampen gav Aggerholm selv udtryk for at hans nerver var på højkant i forhold til hele situationen, og senere, i sin selvbiografi, erkendte han selv, at det gjorde, at han mentalt set faktisk havde tabt kampen på forhånd.

Selve kampen var kort og efterlod ingen tvivl om hvem der var den bedre mand i ringen. Aggerholm pressede på, det bedste han kunne, men Eder leverede effektiv kontraboksning med overlegen teknik. Tyskeren gemte sin højrehånd til det rette øjeblik i 2. omgang; et velanrettet stød til kæben, og Aggerholm var i gulvet. Danskerens instinkt bød ham at komme på benene hurtigst muligt, og han udnyttede ikke muligheden for et par ekstra sekunder til at komme sig. Eder var straks ovre ham igen og endnu et kæbestød sendte Aggerholm til fuld tælling, liggende på knæ med ansigtet i kanvassen.

I sin selvbiografi erindrede Aggerholm, at han var blevet fældet af  ulovlige nakkeslag. Idrætsbladets reporter nævnte dog intet om, at nakkedrag skulle have haft noget som helst med udfaldet at gøre.

Under alle omstændigheder markerede nederlaget afslutningen på Aggerholms karriere som bokser. Han havde dog en sidste kamp i september 1935, hvor det efter 8 omgange mod Nestor Charlier blev tydeligt, at han manglede den gnist, der tidligere havde drevet ham frem.
