Bobby Dobbs startede sin boksekarriere som bareknuckle fighter og boksede hundredevis af kampe i Amerika og Europa. Efter nogle af sine kampe i England gjorde han endda en overgang krav på VM-titlen i weltervægt. Under sine år i Europa gjorde Dobbs sig bekendt med en hel del danske boksere. Udover Jim Smith boksede han mod Holger Hansen, Dick Nelson og Waldemar Holberg. Derudover turnerede han med markedsboksning i Tyskland med Carl Pedersen.

 

Bobby Dobbs slaar Jim Smith ud i 11. Omgang
